Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information FLBoatingHub collects, what third-party services run on the site, and what choices you have.

What we collect ourselves

FLBoatingHub is a static informational website. We do not require accounts. To understand how the site is used, we run two analytics tools, described below. Standard server access logs are retained by our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) for a short period for security and performance purposes; those logs are not used to build visitor profiles. If you email us at [email protected], we retain your message so we can respond.

Cloudflare Web Analytics. To measure aggregate traffic, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first measurement service from our hosting provider. It is cookieless, does not use client-side state or local storage, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across other websites; it reports only aggregate, non-identifying metrics such as page views, referrers, and general location. To enable it, each page loads a small analytics script (beacon.min.js) from static.cloudflareinsights.com.

Google Analytics 4. We also use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-3GV01JHFCW), provided by Google, to measure page views, engagement, scroll depth, and outbound link clicks. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies and processes device and usage information (such as your browser, approximate location derived from IP address, and pages viewed) to produce these reports. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising: Google Ads is not linked, Google Signals is disabled, and ad-personalization signals are turned off, so your data is not used to build advertising audiences or for personalized ads. Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months. You can learn more in Google's privacy information for its services, or opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Location on maps. Some of our maps (for example the interactive statewide map and the live radar map) have a "show my location" control. Your location is requested only after you tap that control, and only once — we do not continuously track or watch your position. When you allow it, your browser hands your coordinates to the map so it can center on you and drop a marker; this happens entirely on your device. After locating you, the map may also compare your position against our stored map of FWC restriction zones (manatee-protection and boating-safety areas) to tell you whether you appear to be inside or within about 500 meters of one; that comparison runs entirely in your browser using zone shapes downloaded to your device, and your coordinates are not sent anywhere to do it. FLBoatingHub does not store, transmit, log, or share your location, and it is discarded as soon as you leave or reload the page. You can deny or revoke the permission at any time in your browser settings, and the map still works without it.

Third-party services on ramp pages

Individual boat ramp pages include two interactive features provided by third parties. When you use those features (or in the case of Disqus, simply load a ramp page), your browser communicates directly with the third party and is subject to their privacy practices.

Disqus (comments)

Each ramp page includes a comment section powered by Disqus, operated by Zeta Global. When you open a ramp page:

Your browser loads a Disqus embed script from disqus.com, which allows Disqus to see your IP address, user agent, and the URL you're viewing.
Disqus sets its own third-party cookies for session management and, on our current free plan, for ad targeting. Free-tier Disqus threads may display advertising within the comment area.
If you post a comment, Disqus stores your comment text, timestamp, and any profile information (name, avatar) tied to the account you signed in with (Google, Facebook, Twitter, or a native Disqus account). Sign-in is handled entirely by Disqus and its identity providers — we never see your password.
All comments are held for manual review before appearing publicly. We may reject or remove comments at our discretion.

Disqus's own data practices are described in the Disqus Privacy Policy. If you would prefer Disqus not load at all, use a content blocker or browser privacy setting that blocks scripts from disqus.com; the rest of the ramp page will still work.

Cloudinary (photo submissions)

Ramp pages include a "Submit a photo" button powered by Cloudinary. You do not need to sign in to submit a photo. When you upload a photo:

Your photo file is transmitted directly to Cloudinary, along with your IP address and standard request metadata.
EXIF metadata (including GPS coordinates and camera data) is stripped from the image on upload, so those details do not appear on the final published photo.
Every submission is held in a private moderation queue and reviewed manually before it appears on the site. Rejected photos are deleted from Cloudinary.
Approved photos are displayed publicly on the corresponding ramp page. Do not upload photos that contain identifying details of other people, license plates, or anything you don't want visible on a public site.

Content you submit

By submitting a comment or a photo, you confirm you have the right to share it and you grant FLBoatingHub a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it on the site alongside the ramp it references. You can request removal of a comment or photo you submitted at any time by emailing [email protected] with a link to the content.

Cookies

Our Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless and stores nothing on your device. Google Analytics 4 sets first-party cookies (for example, _ga) to measure usage; these are used only for measurement, not for advertising. Disqus and Cloudinary set their own third-party cookies when you interact with those features (or, for Disqus, whenever a ramp page loads). You can disable or clear cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on; doing so may prevent comments or photo uploads from working correctly.

Advertising and affiliate links

FLBoatingHub does not currently display first-party advertising and does not participate in any affiliate program. The site itself is not monetized. Note that the free-tier Disqus comment area may show advertising served by Disqus; that ad revenue goes to Disqus, not to FLBoatingHub. Children

FLBoatingHub is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted a comment or photo, please email us and we will remove it.

Your choices

You can browse most of FLBoatingHub without triggering any third-party features. If you want to avoid Disqus entirely, use a content blocker that blocks disqus.com. If you want to avoid Cloudinary, simply don't click the "Submit a photo" button. Contact us at [email protected] with any privacy questions or removal requests.
